MATTERLEY BASIN
WINCHESTER

The Matterley Basin circuit is well renowned for being a staple of the FIM World Motocross Championship calendar. After being originally designed in 2006 for the MXoN and British GP by one of the industries most respected track designers, Johnny Douglas-Hamilton (Created in just two weeks). "JDH" returned in 2017 to make changes to the circuit for the MXoN. These were loved by fans and riders alike!
One of the features of the Matterley Basin circuit that sets it apart from the other rounds in the calendar are it's unrivalled panoramic views. There aren't many circuits where you have 95% visibility of the whole race while still offering some of the most competitive racing in history.
The circuit is located in the heart of the beautiful South Downs National Park. Because of this, for 95% of the year the event site continues it's life as a working farm. It is only for a short period around the event weekend that a dedicated teamwork to transform a plain field into a venue suitable of hosting the biggest motocross event in the world with an incredible amount of hard work and temporary structures and facilities.
We also ask everyone who gets to experience the British Motocross Grand Prix in such an exceptional location to treat it with respect so that we can continue to return year after year.

STEVE DIXON
EVENT PROMOTER
About Steve Dixon -
There are few who have solidified their place in the Motocross industry in as many ways as Steve Dixon without actually riding professionally. GP Mechanic, Winning MXoN Mechanic (Team Great Britain, Paul Malin 1994), GP Team Owner (Dixon Racing Team, GP Winners, British Champion Titles & 3rd in MX2 World Championship, 2nd in 125cc World Championship), MXoN Team Manager (Team Great Britain 2009-2011), British Championship Round Promoter(2015), British GP Promoter (2005,6,11,12,13,14,15,16,18,19,20,21,22) MXGP Festival Promoter (2012,2013) and MXoN Promoter (2006, 2017).
From Steve Dixon -
"Myself and Matterley have now hosted 2 MXoN's, 2 Festivals, and we're now moving into our 14th British Motocoss Grand Prix here. It's quite an achievement, considering the state that the British GP was in at one point. As with any event there's up-sides and down-sides, especially when the weather is involved, but the level of stability we have brought to this new "Home of British Motocoss" would be hard to argue with. We had some amazing racing last time and we were even treated to some amazing weather. It will be so exciting to be one of the early rounds this time, and see a full roster of the highest level of motocross athletes.
All this has been made possible thanks to the landowner Peveril Bruce, my team, Youthstream, ACU, Winchester City Council and the continued support of the fans who have made Matterley Basin one of the most stable GP venues on the calendar, whilst maintaining it's origin as a working farm for 50 weeks of the year.
I have a small but dedicated team who work with me to bring together every aspect of organising an event from websites and traffic management plans to event programmes and council meetings. Together with a core Events Team that have been involved year-on-year, and a group of dedicated Event Sponsors such as Preston Docks MX, Brenmar, SWP, Austen Trading Ltd, Paines Construction, PG Carmichael Fabrication, Mick Kennard and Justin Barclay the British GP is made possible
My aim for 2023 is for the rider to enjoy the track, and for the fans, traders, staff, sponsors, guests and volunteers to experience a phenomenal weekend of racing and atmosphere come rain or shine."
Steve Dixon
